Among the 23 Targets of the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework or KMGBF is to mitigate Biodiversity Loss. Here’s a constructive, creative perspective for re-greening:

1.       Increase Protected Area Network by extending legal protection.

2.       Agroforestry plantations

3.       Afforestation

4.       Agro ecology

5.       Memorial Green Cover / Memorial Parks

6.       Watershed management and restoration of fallow degraded ecosystems by restoring Soil Organic Carbon,

7.       Sustainable agriculture

8.       Traditional tenets in pastoral practices,

9.       Address Organised wildlife crime to stymie poaching  of endangered species,

10.   Supplant invasive biota with indigenous means of ecosystems restoration.

11.   Nullify vehicular emissions.

12.   Reduce industrial emissions drastically

13.   Increase installed capacity of renewables.

14.   Reach Net Zero before the committed deadline.

15.   Create a Parliament for Indigenous People

16.   Institutionalise traditional Wisdom

17.   Elect public representatives for a Wildlife Parliament.

18.   Give Market Access for Indigenous Peoples’ Produce

19.   Certification needed for biotic Produce of Indigenous People.

20.    Provide fiscal incentives to tax paying citizens to undertake and participate in re-greening initiatives.

21.   Promote Biodiversity Benefits as traditional medicine and nutraceuticals.

Get every Indian to plant fruit trees equivalent to 1/10 of India’s population every year. This helps mitigate desertification and Climate Change.
